In Chad, the government announced its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC), arguing that the Court’s activities have been disproportionately focused on Africa and have not met the expectations set at its creation. The authorities said the decision followed a review of the Court’s record and came after similar withdrawal notifications by Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. [1]
In Senegal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye officially endorsed the candidacy of former President Macky Sall for the position of United Nations Secretary-General following a meeting at the Presidential Palace. The Senegalese government announced that it would mobilize its diplomatic network to support the bid, presenting the initiative as part of Senegal’s commitment to Africa’s representation and multilateral cooperation.
